On Saturday, October 19th VOTE YES to PW School Board 7 Mills Renewal!

The renewal of the exisiting millage of 7 mills is vital to Jefferson Parish Public Schools!  Here are some facts on the renewal:

  • Generates $23 million for JPPS
  • 7 mills has been in place for 20 years - voting yes will not cause any increase in taxes
  • Used to pay salaries for teaches & counselors, purchase classroom supplies, and support special programs (this funding will not be used to implement Common Core)
  • Cost to the taxpayer:  $52.50 annually for home valued at $150,000 or $4.37 per month

What will happen if the millage is not renewed?
JPPSS estimates that the loss of the $23 million generated by the millage will result in the loss of 320 teachers, or about 10% of teaching staff, causing an increase in the number of students in each class.  Additional losses would include pre-K classes, middle school athletic, arts, and music programs, and a delay in technology upgrades and modernization of classrooms.

VOTE YES on October 19th to the 7 mils renewal and continue your support for public education!
