New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® Supports West Jefferson Levee District Millage

The April 28 proposal for sustained hurricane protection has received another important endorsement as the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® announced its support this week. 

"Loss of flood protection would be extremely detrimental to the West Bank. Adequate funding for ongoing maintenance and repairs to this system is in the best interest of all residents and business owners in West Jefferson," said Cindy Callais, President, New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS®. "That is why the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® strongly supports the West Jefferson Levee District millage increase. And we too urge residents to approve the requested millage increase in West Jefferson to ensure that we meet the needs for protection." 

Early voting for the proposition, which would add 4.75 mills to West Jefferson residents' annual tax payment for flood protection over the next 10 years, ends on Saturday.

There is widespread community, business and media support for the proposal. Recent endorsements include:
