The NOMAR Government Affairs Department maintains a full-time professional staff to aggressively ensure that the REALTORS® voice is heard and interests are protected. Our primary function is to monitor legislation throughout ten parishes including: Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington.

By maintainging relationships with government officials in every parish within the New Orleans Metropolitan area, we secure the opportunity to promote legislation that is helpful or oppose legislation that is harmful to the real estate industry.

As a department, we also work to ensure that the REALTOR® image is constantly viewed in a positive light. Our close partnerships with the Louisiana REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® helps to ensure that NOMAR has access to special programs, toolkits and grants that allow members to be a strong and positive image in the communities they serve.

The Government Affairs Department staff serves as liaisons to the NOMAR Government Affairs Committee, Housing Opportunity Committee, NOMPAT, Managers Advisory Committee, and Charter & By-Laws Committee. We urge you to get involved and become active in a NOMAR Committee today!

Our door is always open and we encourage you to get in touch with us if you ever have any questions, comments or concerns.

Vote with the REALTOR® Party!

The New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® endorses and supports candidates at the local levels during each election cycle. Check below for the latest endorsements of candidates and ballot issues.

During every election cycle, the New Orleans Metropolitan Political Advisory Team (NOMPAT), a committee of NOMAR and LARPAC, takes the time to carefully interview candidates running for office, as well as review all local ballot measures. NOMAR endorses candidates who they feel are REALTOR® Party Champions. These candidates either have proven themselves as champions of REALTOR® issues as incumbents or are new candidates who show potential to become our champions through their willingness to work with NOMAR on issues affecting housing and private property rights. NOMAR will also often recommend that its REALTOR® members either support or oppose local ballot measures that have a direct impact on housing and private property rights.

Voter Guide 2021

The Candidate Interview Task Force is comprised of members of the NOMPAT Committee and NOMAR’s LARPAC contributors. They meet during each election cycle to interview candidates for local elected offices and recommend REALTOR® Party Champions to NOMPAT for support in upcoming elections. All members of the task force must attend the Choosing REALTOR® Party Champions Training held annually at NOMAR. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
