A Message from the CEO:
I am thrilled to be reaching out to you as your new CEO! Having served the association for nine years as the Senior Vice President of Governmental Relations, I have heard from many of you over the years on the things you love about us and the things you would like to see done differently, and I’m here to tell you that a new NOMAR is coming.
Two things you will immediately see that are different: new signage at the Metairie office and a higher invoiced amount for your 2023 NOMAR dues. In addition to NAR’s $10 increase in the Special Assessment, your local dues have increased from $149 to $199. It’s our first dues increase in 14 years, and I want you to know what you will see for that additional funding.
Coming in 2023:
- New backend technology to make processes simpler for our members and our staff:
- An upgraded member system that syncs in real time with LREC, LR, NAR, and the MLS
- A streamlined new website
- The launch of a ticketing system to improve responsiveness on member support calls
- A robust member support team who can serve as your one-stop shop for quick answers to questions on MLS, membership, or education
- New education offerings to keep you ahead of the curve on all things real estate, including a new Housing Summit with Greater New Orleans HBA on January 10
- A renewed focus on member engagement, including consistent general membership meetings with timely updates and more exciting member events with opportunities to network with our affiliates
- A bigger presence in the community, through involvement with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and expanded outreach to media to position our REALTOR® members as the experts on residential and commercial real estate
Benefits you will continue to receive:
- Instanet and Authentisign products at no additional cost (retail value: $129+ annually)
- Unlimited CE, including LREC mandatory and Code of Ethics, in person at either NOMAR location at no additional cost (retail value: $55-75 for 12 hours)
- Live virtual CE with Bob Brooks School for the discounted price of $5 per credit hour (average savings: 40% off retail price)
- Full suite of professional conduct resources – mediation, ombudsman, arbitration, and professional standards hearings – managed by NOMAR staff and utilizing NOMAR volunteers
- A dedicated in-house lobbyist to represent your professional interests with local governments in the metro area
There are two more things you can expect from me in this new role: transparency and accountability. I understand that you have a choice in local associations and that NOMAR will only continue to succeed as long as we are providing value for your membership. I will always have an open-door policy for our members and encourage you to reach out with any questions, suggestions, praise, or concerns. Please contact me if I can be of any assistance and thank you for your continued membership at NOMAR.
Sincerely,
Kelli Walker Starrett, RCE
